Prime Minister of French, Jean Castex has warned, in Europe, the Omicron variant is “spreading at a lightning speed” and by the start of the next year, it can become dominant in France.
On Friday, he stated that an hour before France applied strict restrictions on entering the United Kingdom.

However, on Saturday, Germany registered more than 42,000 cases from the 50,000 new infections recorded on Friday.
In Ireland, cases of new variants are increasing, while Taoiseach Michael Martin stated that “they were predicting to see the spread of the infections that is far away from the extreme of anything we have noticed till date”.
The warning alert came as the United Kingdom noted covid infection more than 93,000 and it is largely driven by Omicron.
On Friday, for those people traveling from the UK, for the sake of tourism or business, France has closed its borders, while the huge ques waiting at the port of Eurostar and Dover terminals, as that people tried to enter the region before the establishment of the ban.
However, it’s not the only country that has tightened its controls but the Greece, Italy, and Portugal have also declared that the people traveling from the EU will need to show the negative test result, this rule is for those too who have been vaccinated.
Mr. Castex stated, just before the new rule came into existence, that restrictions on traveling are a chain of bringing a stem of infection in the region.
However, they also involved the reduction of the vaccination gap in between the second and the third dose and the requirement of full vaccination for entering restaurants and for the public transport of long-distance.
Besides this, the New Year Eve celebrations and firework displays have been canceled by all the authorities.
However, on Friday, the Netherland has noted more than 15,400 infections of covid, which is less than earlier days.
The move of restrictions has been blamed by some of the politicians from governing coalition of Irland, and also stated that the new rules would encourage more people to gather together at homes.
Whereas, the sports venue will operate at a capacity of 50% or will have attendance numbers limit at 5,000.
The Wedding celebrations will allow continuing till midnight allowing a maximum of 100 guests.
The Irish deputy PM, Tanaiste Leo Varadkar addressed that the government could discuss on Monday the financial measures in order to support the affected businesses due to the new rules applied.
